Black Adam – DC's Bald Hierarchy, review (spoilers)

A straightforward film about an overly straightforward man.

Black Adam – DC's Bald Hierarchy, review (spoilers)

Originally planned only as a villain in Shazam, Black Adam, through the efforts of Dwayne Johnson's unnecessarily increased popularity, waved to a separate solo album. Our favorite professional wrestler also managed to jump into the producer's chair. But he didn't take into account one thing - just taking and making another Hobbs and Shaw with a non-name director for 200 lakhs is not so much a trivial task, without a background in the form of Fast and furious or Marvel behind you.

Powerful scenario

The script is what a pleasant and caressing word, so it is definitely not worth pronouncing it in relation to this film product. The synopsis, the villain, the whole plot smacks of old cardboard for rolling down the slide.

The state in the Middle East under the yoke of tyranny – CHECK

A child in trouble without a father – CHECK

Glavgad – a descendant of another glavgad who wants to control everyone, and a bad one, because bad, and in general, stop asking questions – CHECK

Yoba artifact that makes bobo – CHECK

A hostile team with which in the end it will still be necessary to unite, because they are good guys and only together we will win – CHECK

The main character, who is not so simple, he is bad, but still good, bald and must make a choice - CHECK

While watching, I can't help feeling that the film was shot in the year in 2005, and they decided to release it because the Rock asked. The music in half of the episodes is picked up at random, some scenes are literally molded out of nothing. The clearest example is the scene with the TV, which is then repeated for some reason on location. Why this nonsense with a western, what is it for here in principle. Apparently, catch up with the timing to 2 hours.

The arch with mom and boy wants to take a good touch against the wall, played and written as disgustingly as possible. The constant rolling of the boy on the skateboard is exhausting instantly, the scene of STEALTH ON THE SKATEboard tore me apart from the inside.

And the icing on the cake is one single twist, merged in the very first trailer, you can, you can. Even if you imagine for a second that you have not seen the trailer, then this plot twist affects, absolutely, nothing. Inserted it for the sake of a beautiful word and nothing more. The goal, most likely, was to put the protagonist in front of a choice, but in fact there is no choice, and Adam is definitely a positive character.

Graphics and staging

The head of the Rock, sewn to a decrepit body in flashbacks, the effects of flying in the form of a spermatozoon, a model of a villain - this is only a small part of what should under no circumstances fall into a film worth 200 million evergreens of 2022.

I understand the Bald Fast and the Furious man and Henry Cavill are expensive, but where did all the other money go, on Pierce Brosnan and the guy with the wings? The whole movie is made up of slowmo, in every fucking slowmo scene, is that really all there was enough money for? Cut it all out, and the timing can be reduced by 4 times.

The action scenes are non-inventive, the final fight of the level of the recent epic – "She-Hulk". 55 sneers at each other and peeks between the man with the wings and the Rock are tiring to the point of trembling. I can only praise the opening scene of Adam's appearance inside the mountain (tough enough for PG-13) and the scene with Doctor Faith. And regarding Dr. Faith, I believe that his potential has not been greatly revealed.

Rubric: «Unanswered questions»

How did the main character know how to wake up Adam, Aunt Tamara told? Why has no one found an ordinary cave with a crown for a bunch of centuries? At least some small explanations about Adam and Shazam could be given? Let's be honest - Black Adam is not a particularly popular character, and the question of why his powers were simply not taken away by magicians, but banally put him to sleep, is still relevant. Although in Shazam we were directly shown that this is possible.

The conflict between the Justice Society and Black Adam is absolutely strained and arises out of the blue. Or it's a stupid translation or the script itself, but Doctor Faith and the Hawkman for some reason arrange a clown at the first meeting with the phrase: "Bend down or die" - and then with the rescue of mercenaries and killers.

Why did Dr. Faith sacrifice himself? To stop the appearance of 15 skeletons, which the tube breaks? Where is the declared occupation intact, the mother of his country, the normal depiction of her money was not enough? Similarly with The Justice Society, where two of the four characters can be thrown out, so they are needed by the plot.

Findings

Of course, it's funny that The Rock laughed at himself and played such a stupid and tedious man who could not insert a cool phrase in time. Unfortunately, we have already seen him in such a role hundreds of times, and from such a project we would like to get a little more than a man in a black suit, who throughout the film does not want anything and hangs stupidly in front of the statue, subsequently going with the flow without any interest.

If you suddenly expected the promised change in the DC hierarchy, then make no mistake. The only hierarchy that has been replaced here is the hierarchy of stupidity on the other side. What can we talk about if the film, having the Rock in the leading role in its hands, could not even recoup its budget.
